If you are working in the UK on your EU citizenship, we encourage you to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme (if you have not done so already).
As of January 1st 2021, free movement will end in the UK and a new points based immigration system will apply to anyone arriving in the UK on or after this date. Anyone living in the UK before 31st December 2020 can apply under the EU Settlement scheme in order to obtain and prove right to work in the UK. The deadline for applying is 30th June 2021. Until this time you will still be able to obtain work by presenting your EEA passport or National ID card.
The EU Settlement scheme allows EU, EEA and Swiss citizens and their family to apply to continue to live and work in the UK beyond 30th June 2021. Upon successful application either settled or pre-settled status will be granted.
If you feel this may apply to you, further guidance and how to apply can be found on the government website here or in this fact sheet.
This guidance has been translated into 26 European languages which can be found here.
