Meet Syeda Ahmed, MCG Construction Apprentice

The logistics division of MCG Construction has 7 apprentices who are currently working within the business while studying for a range of construction focused qualifications.

This week, during National Apprenticeship Week (8-12 February), we caught up with Syeda Ahmed who is currently completing her apprenticeship scheme with MCG Construction.

How did you hear about this apprenticeship?

I found out about this apprenticeship through the apprenticeship.gov website.

What attracted you to the apprenticeship route rather than working/university?

Apprenticeships give you the opportunity to gain practical experience as well as study towards a qualification.

What qualifications are you currently working towards?

Business Administration

What attracted you to the construction industry?

I have always worked in the engineering and technical industry, therefore I thought I could use my knowledge to really understand the background of the role I will be fulfilling.

What’s been your favourite part of the apprenticeship so far?

My favourite part of the apprenticeship so far has been able to take on tasks and responsibilities, and taking the initiative to make them my own. The guidance and support I’ve been given by my MCG Construction Managers has allowed me to grow in confidence and tackle these responsibilities with assurance.
