George Osborne’s rejuvenation of ‘Northern Powerhouse’ proposal garnered a lot of praise from the business and construction worlds when he announced new measures back in 2015 during the coalition government.

The HS2 scheme will make the North more accessible via London and Birmingham, as well as the huge road tunnel planned between Manchester and Sheffield, halving commute times between the two cities.
This project is noteworthy as it would become, if it was built, the largest road tunnel in the world!
Of course, industry in Manchester has seen a large increase in jobs due to the relocation of the BBC as well as many large multi-national companies opening up premises in the city.
