Health, Safety & Environment Advisor - Permanent - Watford - Up to £45k - IMMEDIATE START

Health, Safety & Environment Advisor. Here at MCG Construction, we provide both recruitment and logistics sub-contractor solutions to the construction sector, and have an opening for a new HS&E Advisor role, based from our Head Office in Watford, with regular visits to site throughout London as required.

Working as a Health, Safety & Environment Officer, we are looking for a suitable candidate who can assist, guide and advise the Operations team with regards to the management of health, safety, and environmental issues across all our live projects, and your role will be focussed on promoting a positive H&S culture on site, ensure we hold ourselves accountable to exemplary compliance levels, and continuously improving environmental and quality standards

In this stand alone HS&E role, some of your day-to-day duties and responsibilities will involve and include, but not be restricted to, the following:

  • Monitoring compliance with company Health & Safety policies, RAMS, procedures, and legislation
  • Monitoring teams via site safety inspections and management audits (and produce reports based on findings from internal audits)
  • Producing and review all site RAMS
  • Undertaking manual handling training, face fit testing and other relevant training of our operatives
  • Helping to promote a positive Health & Safety culture throughout the business
  • Have knowledge of wellbeing best practices and provide good advice to site teams
  • Conduct Site Safety Inspections and provide the reports to the Head of SHEQ
  • Write/review new site Construction Phase Plans and assist with Safe Systems of Work
  • Assist the Operations Director in
  • - reviewing, assessing & completing client Health & Safety pre-qualification questionnaires
  • - maintaining programmes and standards to meet the requirements of existing and future legislation and company standards
  • - working with the compliance department to maintain company accreditations
  • Carrying out impartial Accident & Incident Investigations and reporting
  • Maintaining accurate records of relevant Health and Safety data
  • Ensuring checks and necessary inspections are carried out

Due to the nature of the role, it is essential that applicants meet the following criteria as a minimum;

  • NEBOSH Certificate in Construction or higher
  • Associate Member of IOSH is a minimum, Tech IOSH would be advantageous
  • Experience of working within construction and the refurbishment environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good attention to detail, highly organised and ability to prioritise workload
  • Able to work on your own initiative
  • Ability to assist in leading and developing change
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001:2015, ISO9001:2015 and OHSAS18001/ISO45001:2018 would be a benefit
