Salary -£55000

Purpose of the Role-

We are looking to recruit a Senior Design Engineer within our clients Contracting's design team to deliver design development, both internally and with specialist partners. You will produce design information that is construction led and always seek to exceed our customers' expectations. Your ability to partner with construction and client teams to generate efficiencies and drive innovation in both design development and construction will help the company become a leading provider.

You will contribute to designs for highway and public realm projects across the UK of a value from £1m to £25m. You will be based at the company's Contracting head office in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire but will be expected to travel and provide direct support that meets the demand of each project.

A Few Key Responsibilities of the Role-

  • The Senior Design Engineer will be responsible for the Development and checking of highways packages and public realm space design packages
  • To oversee the development of technical design packages in a cost-effective, timely and collaborative manner.
  • To lead on quality outputs, applying design management systems, ensuring adherence to processes and continuous improvement
  • Demonstrate and uphold Health, Safety and Environment responsibilities, including CDM
  • Core technical acumen and demonstrable experience in the development and checking of Highway and Public Realm space design packages. Ideally a minimum of 5 years' experience.
  • Client liaison and management ability to uphold relationships and conduct effective liaison including subcontractors, statutory undertakers, stakeholders etc as required for project delivery
  • Application of design management systems and processes ensuring continuous improvement including understanding and application of BIM
  • Commercial understanding including application of the NEC contract suite to ensure projects are delivered to time and budget
  • Experience and understanding of construction methodologies and processes enabling a construction led design process
  • Proficient in the use of both AutoCAD and Civils 3D packages
  • Provide day to day supervision of junior staff supporting and developing the design team
  • Relevant degree in engineering field
  • Professionally qualified or working towards chartership of a professional body
  • At all times to adhere to company procedures with regard to Health & Safety and where applicable to ensure all team members do like wise
  • At all times to behave in a way that supports the company's stated Vision and Values and where applicable to ensure all team members do like wise.

  • Efficiency gains through the use of BIM.

Essential Experience of the Role-

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or similar
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role
