MCG Construction Recruitment have an excellent opportunity available for a Mechanical Project Manager in Wakefield to work, on a permanent basis, with a highly regarded contractor known for offering comprehensive M&E services, solutions, and turnkey management, and being partnered with leading construction specialists.

The Company:

You will be working within the Delivery team of the Special Projects division and as part of a contractor with over 15 years of operation in a range of market sectors, possessing projected turnover of circa £19 million and bringing on 30+ experienced managers to support its growth. The contractor also prides themselves on delivering complex M&E installations to tight programs, and champions the introduction of new green technologies, always work alongside clients to deliver 'as-green-as-possible' solutions.

The Role:

  • Planning and managing 1 to 2 projects at any one time, including weekly site visits, maintaining an approximate 50/50 split between office and site.
  • Managing procurement of required specialist subcontractors, including enquiry handling and tender reviewing of said subcontractors in-line with section budgets.
  • Liaising with M&E designers, highlighting any issues or requirements, including attending relevant design meetings and organising any required meetings as required.
  • Liaising with site team, ensuring site requirements are met.
  • Quantifying and liaising with in-house Quantity Surveyor, highlighting all relevant variations to contracts.
  • Reviewing and monitoring programmes, ensuring all targets are met.
  • Producing weekly site reports, collating relevant information from site level supervisors.
  • Value engineering any available areas of works.
  • Managing quality control of materials and workmanship.

The Requirements:

  • Experience with ventilation installation in new build apartments and/or student accommodation, or relevant project.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and IT software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships with team members, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Available to work a full-time position.
  • Full UK driving license.

The Qualifications:

  • Relevant Degree/HNC/HND or other qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or relevant field.
  • SMSTS
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Asbestos Awareness
